DAN STOVALL biography:
Dan Stovall is an avid horseman, artist, outdoorsman, and family man whose lifelong connection to the American West began on his mother’s family ranch in Texas, where his grandfather instilled in him a deep respect for horses and western tradition. Raised in Arkansas and immersed in the “Natural State’s” vast, largely untouched wilderness, Stovall developed an early appreciation for the land, its rhythms, and the people shaped by it.
He has worked extensively at equine facilities as a caretaker and trainer, participated in open-range gatherings and sorting at some of the largest ranches in the United States, and continues to ride his horses daily. These firsthand experiences, combined with a reverence for America’s golden-age illustrators, inform a body of work grounded in authenticity, discipline, and a distinctly American sense of place. His work has been featured in Western Art Collector and is represented by Maxwell Alexander Gallery in Pasadena, California.
