"Leisures" Showcase of New Works

“I’m going for minimal color and concentrating on values and design and creating a strong, very simple graphic series of shapes,” Todorovitch says. On April 11th, Maxwell Alexander Gallery will open the latest exhibit of new works by Todorovitch. The exhibit, titled "Leisures," will be on display through our website as we adhere to the current regulations and suggestions regarding the COVID-19 virus. The full show will become live on our website at 10am PT on 4/11/20.
Todorovitch, for most of his career, has set out to wow viewers with his ability to capture the human figure with paint...but his real goal was to impress his peers. Todorovitch’s skill level is so high, that he would push himself to show his technical ability and what he could do with a paintbrush to recreate the human body. The rest of us instinctively know it is good, but other artists know why it is great. Lately, the artist has made design more of the focus as he departs from academic constraints. That’s not the say they are not masterfully painted, rather they are everything he previously painted and more - “Soul,” he states. Each painting in Todorovitch’s latest exhibit, is simplified to light and dark values - color becomes a supplement as to not overwhelm the design or mood he has created. "I want the sense of form and light to be the main actor,” states Todorovitch.
The subjects in “Leisures” range from figures and their bicycle companions to the classic nude reimagined with Todorovitch’s minimal palette with emphasis on the natural lines of the human body. In this unprecedented time we need art in our lives more than ever. To help, Todorovitch and the gallery will be donating 10% of the proceeds from this exhibit to the Covid fund at the Pomona Valley Hospital in California.
We are doing our best to make the process of viewing and purchasing art digitally as easy as possible. When the exhibit goes live on our website, this Saturday at 10am PT, there will be links to purchase the work directly from the site. We will have framed images, sizing, and pricing posted to the website as well.
