GEORGE G. REDDEN:

George G. Redden grew up in southwestern Wyoming. Throughout his youth he frequented the outdoors on the family ranch, as well as hunting and fishing on the summer mountain range. The mountains, and the agricultural lifestyle that persists in the west, is both a heritage left by his ancestors as well as a major part of George's personal life.

Creativity was another dominant element of his youth. He pursued various creative pursuits, including hours of drawing; a particular interest that persists today. The practice of drawing as a part of the painting is still one of George’s favorite aspects of the process.

After a college degree in wildlife, George started a serious mentorship in the arts under his dad. This was facilitated by other great artists, including Albin Veselka, Michael Malm, and Josh Clare. George studied hard and was drawn to both western themes and figurative work, a paring that would greatly influence his Native American paintings. He was also particularly inspired by the works of artists from the Golden Age of Illustration, including Dean Cornwell, NC Wyeth, and JC Leyendecker. He is also inspired by the work of the Taos artists.

George’s work, especially his Native American paintings, emphasizes the beauty of the human body in harmony with the wilderness of the American west. He is inspired by the divine design of the human form and the power of gesture to convey emotion and to tell a story. He employs gesture, anatomy, and design to highlight the beauty of the human form.

George currently lives in Lyman, Wyoming with his wife and four kids where they continue to enjoy the natural world and creativity together.

DAN STOVALL:

Dan Stovall is an avid horseman, artist, outdoorsman, and family man whose lifelong connection to the American West began on his mother’s family ranch in Texas, where his grandfather instilled in him a deep respect for horses and western tradition. Raised in Arkansas and immersed in the “Natural State’s” vast, largely untouched wilderness, Stovall developed an early appreciation for the land, its rhythms, and the people shaped by it.

He has worked extensively at equine facilities as a caretaker and trainer, participated in open-range gatherings and sorting at some of the largest ranches in the United States, and continues to ride his horses daily. These firsthand experiences, combined with a reverence for America’s golden-age illustrators, inform a body of work grounded in authenticity, discipline, and a distinctly American sense of place. His work has been featured in Western Art Collector and is represented by Maxwell Alexander Gallery in Pasadena, California.

NATHANAEL VOLCKENING:

Nathanael Volckening, born 1988, is an oil painter based in Colorado. He grew up in Taos, New Mexico, in a family of artists and craftspeople, surrounded by the region’s landscapes, cultures, and the enduring legacy of the Taos art colony. These early experiences continue to shape the way he sees and interprets his subjects.

Rooted in formal studies of light, atmosphere, and the human figure, Nathanael’s work moves between naturalism and abstraction. He creates spaces that feel at once expansive and intimate, offering windows onto landscapes that invite quiet wonder.

“I approach painting as a form of meditation, an attentive practice of observing light, form, and atmosphere with my whole mind and body,” says Volckening. “Within the shapes I perceive in the landscape, I strive to articulate archetypal forms that act as a bridge between the outer world and our inner awareness, offering a way to experience the land through both body and spirit.”
