Our latest arrival: Taos Landscape by Taos Society founding member, W. Herbert Dunton.  The well executed oil appears to be one of the preliminary studies for the major work, "Sunset in the Foothills."  Paintings from this era of Dunton's life have become increasingly rare with most of the examples in museum collections (like the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, TX) or private collections with no plans to ever sell.

William Herbert "Buck" Dunton (1878 – 1936) was an American artist and a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. He is noted for paintings of cowboys, New Mexico, and the American Southwest.
